Sorry Azealia - I think we’ve found our new queen bee of the 212.
Although hailing from Detroit, Angel Haze’s Gil Scott-Heron-sampling “New York”, off her recently released debut mixtape Reservation, proves that the rapper is the most impressive female MC in the game: she’s got a more rapid flow than Nicki Minaj, is so badass that she makes Azealia Banks look like a Barbie doll, and has more street cred than the two of them combined. And then there’s the video.
We thought Miss Banks was the crudest girl in rap (rapping about that certain you-know-what getting eaten), but I think Angel Haze claims the title with this scary as fuck music video of a New York City gas mask-donning rampage and lines like “tie a rope around your neck and let me kick you off a bungee”. You don’t wanna mess with this chick - she runs New York.
