Listen: Elliott Smith - Alameda (Alternate Version)
If you were around in 1997 and old enough to comprehend the magnatude of that year’s musical releases, you’ll remember Elliott Smith’s third album Either/Or being up there along with the likes of Ok Computer, Mezzanine, Homework, Ladies And Gentleman We Are Floating In Space, Time Out Of Mind…and countless others.
That’s a bumper year, right there. Awnywhoo, on August 6th it would’ve been Elliott Smith’s 43rd birthday and in celebration of that occasion the label who used to house him Kill Rock Stars are releasing a compilation of rare and unreleased tracks and alternate tracks, the first of which is his lyrically-altered alternate version of “Alameda”.
