Video: Kendrick Lamar - Drank
Kendrick Lamar released his new song, “Drank” not too long ago. Today he has released the video for the song. It shows Kendrick rocking the Kanye West look- remember that? When Kanye was going all over the place using his drum kit and auto-tune to perform tracks off of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? Well, I remember the red suit, gold chains and distinct dance moves very clearly, and they all seem to be echoed in the new Kendrick video (intentionally or not).
Kendrick embodies the lyrics of the video in the scenes that show him drinking alone in a dark room with bottles crashing in slow motion onto clean white floors. The video goes well with what the song is about.
What catches my eye most when watching this video, though, is the production. We can already see Kendrick moving up in the world- his videos used to have a sense of homemade-ness to them, now they clearly have a large team behind them. This change is hardly a bad thing, though. If anything it shows that Kendrick is clearly on a steady incline to major success. Now all we have to do is sit back and listen to it happen.
