The Royal Concept is a rare breed: the Swedes make infectious indie pop that seems able to appeal to the masses and not only a certain niche. These guys know what they’re doing.
The Phoenix comparisons are obvious: they create similar tunes, with strikingly similar vocals - and yet they put their own spin on it. Their latest single, “Naked & Dumb” off of their recent self-titled EP released via Universal Republic puts a spin on the Phoenix brand of indie pop with an added string section.
The Royal Concept are not one to miss as they embark on a North American tour supporting the likes of Wolf Gang and The Wombats, dates for which can be seen here and here.
