Germany Germany’s new album Blank Mind Empty Heart is due on July 20th, “With You” is the latest single from it.
The last time Germany Germany featured a female vocalist was with Steffalloo on “Just Go,” once again it brings a nice touch to the otherwise ambient songs of his, birthing an entirely new feel which allows a much broader reach and hopefully will open up typically less electronic savy listeners to grasp the music he creates.
What has always resonated with me about Drew Harris is how comfortable his songs feel from the perspective of him as an artist. Every time a new Germany Germany track comes out it is apparent how much he keeps pushing himself in the creative process, without coming across negative, I’m always taken back by how comfortable most artists allow themselves to be, finding one sound and one technique and falling back on it instead of looking forward, like through what moderate success they’ve defined themselves and that’s enough, this has never felt like the case for Harris and I respect that.
Along with “With You” there is a remake of “Real Hero” (that one song off the Drive soundtrack from College/Electric Youth) featuring Kotomi’s vocals as well, it’s a solid remake to say the least.
