Video: Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros - Man On Fire

Edward Sharpe, Man On Fire, Video, Here

It’s only been a day since Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros released their second album “Here” and they’ve already released a video for “Man On Fire”.

It’s unclear if the song is inspired by a documentary like “Man On Wire”, except about a man on fire, but the video takes us on a trip throughout various parts of NYC and records people dancing, whether it’s as part of a troupe or just kids having fun in a park. It’s got quite an epic ending, though. Think of Monty Python’s “Every Sperm Is Sacred” set in Chernobyl. Fun, right?

Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, Here, Album Stream

Chances are that you’ve at least heard Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros’ song “Home” at some point in the last three years, if not by the band themselves, then a cover of it by someone else, a multitude of which exist on YouTube.

That track was huge, and still is, and still is as fantastic as it was when it first came out. Three years on from their debut album “Up From Below”, they’re trying to shed all of the press that song continues to receive, and the best way they know how is to release more and more music in the same anthemic, upbeat, Indie-Folk-Rock vein.

They’ve done just that, as evidenced by new tracks like “Man On Fire” and “That’s What’s Up”, though celebratory songs such as “I Don’t Wanna Pray” only lend weight to the band’s ability to irretrievably draw you in and infect your brain with their 12-part choruses and jovial multi-vocalist harmonies.

“Here” will be released on May 29th via Community Music and via NPR you can listen to it in full below. If you’re looking for a pick-me-up album and don’t mind singing these songs for the next year religiously, give it a spin and then go buy it.

[Listen] - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - “Man On Fire”

Listen to Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros’ new song “Man On Fire” below, taken from their album “Here”.

I wasn’t around town when this new Edward Sharpe… track made the rounds, I was gallivanting through the streets of Austin, TX for SXSW, but I’m glad that the dudes at The NJ Underground grabbed the track and that CoS just posted it, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have heard it.

Taken from the band’s upcoming second album “Here”, out on May 29th, “Man On Fire” follows on that majestic and easily-repeatable stint that most of the songs on their debut album had. The track premiered on KCRW a couple of weeks ago, and as previously mentioned, you can check it out below.
